Today at the Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design, a creative meeting was held as part of a project with Tatiana Romanova-Vorontsova, a soloist from the Finnish National opera. The project participants heard about the singer’s artistic journey and learned a lot of interesting things about the role of theatrical costumes in shaping a stage persona, as well as the challenges that costumes can sometimes create for opera performers. The vast creative experience our guest has accumulated over her 25-year career in opera allowed her to showcase a complete collection of theatrical costumes ranging from classic and luxurious to ultra-modern and extravagant, from technically complex structured dresses and headpieces to very simple ones. As she talked about the characters she created in the theater, Tatiana also displayed theatrical brochures from different years with illustrations and photo sketches from productions of the Finnish National opera. In response to questions from the audience, Tatiana shared her impressions of the changes happening in Finnish opera and the characteristics and trends of the modern opera theater in the neighboring country.
