Behind the scenes of the Mariinsky Theatre
Today participants in the OPERA & PODIUM project had a unique opportunity to immerse into the fantastic world behind the scenes at the Mariinsky Theatre by visiting the theatrical costume production workshop. This is where theatre really begins, where images are created, where art is born.
High-class stage costume masters work here, from whose hands every month up to 400 new historical, fairytale fantasy images are born, created according to the fashion rules of different eras, creating the mood of the artist and the auditorium. One can only guess in which of these outfits the Queen of the Night or Aida, Marfa or Carmen will appear on the historical stage of the Saint Petersburg theater.
